What do the model numbers mean?
The model number is an alphanumeric code designating both the model type and the ligature size. The letter prefix (on all ligatures except the Dark) indicates the model as follow: L - Light, C - MK III. V - Versa, SS - Star Series, LG - Legacy, X - Versa-X, P - Platinum. The remaining combinations of numbers and letters indicate the size (for example, P-2R is a Platinum that fits a tenor mouthpiece). More info »

How many Rovner ligature models are manufactured? How do they differ?
Rovner Products currently manufactures eight different ligature models. Each has unique characteristics and offers a different playing experience. Check out the full Rovner Products ligature selection.
How many different sizes are available, and is there one for me?
Rovner Products offers an unparalleled amount of more than 100 different ligature sizes! Why? Rovner is dedicated to providing enhanced performance to as broad an array of players as possible. One-size-fits-all might work for plastic rain ponchos, but not for ligatures. Having the right size ligature for your mouthpiece helps you optimize the performance of both components. Rovner micro-specs sizes, so there are more options for the many brands of mouthpieces on the market today. There is very likely a size that will work for you!
Our interactive Sizing Guides or our Most Common Fit Guide charts will assist with determining the correct ligature for you.
What's the difference between the Classic models and the Next Generation models?
The Rovner Dark was a groundbreaker back in 1974, introducing an innovative approach to ligature design. The other Classic models are variations on that extremely successful theme. In 2008, the next wave of Rovner innovation entered the scene: patented Mass-Loaded Technology™, which adds mass to the ligature design and/or incorporates Rovner's unique Resonating Ribs™. These new features increase performance and offer players many more options for a more "personalized" ligature choice based on their particular needs. Finally, the Next Generation products were engineered to be manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively, resulting in attractively-priced products that can fit most any budget.
Why is the fact that they're patented so important?
When a product is patented, that means it has features and characteristics that arose from original ideas, and that are completely unique to that particular product. If you want Rovner innovation, you'll need to buy a bona fide Rovner ligature!
What are Rovner ligatures made of?
Rovner ligatures are made to last for years, and will not stretch or rot. The ligature material goes through extensive, multi-step processes and preparation to ensure its durability and to imbue it with energetic response. Rovner hardware is engineered to work synergistically with the ligature body, promoting and supporting its characteristics, and is corrosion resistant. Our first all-metal ligature, the Platinum, is constructed of a durable, highly-tempered, space-age metal alloy.
Are any accessories included in the cost of your products?
Rovner ligatures are shipped with a custom-made, custom-fit Rovner cap. The only exception is the Star Series, which was designed to be able to use a standard cap that you may already have.
How does the Turbo-Charger Kit work?
The Turbo-Charger Kit is a retrofit for your Star Series or Legacy ligature. (It will also fit the retired EVO-5 if you happen to have one in your Rovner wardrobe.) It provides greater projection, more presence, greater facility and a more focused tone. For the Star Series, the weights go on the reed side of the mouthpiece, although you are welcome to experiment. For the Legacy, the metal cradle must face the reed at all times.
How does the Money-Back Trial Guarantee work?
A ligature is a personal choice and there are many players who would benefit from the opportunity to experiment with different ligatures and in different playing situations. If the ligatures or the Turbo-Charger Kit are ordered directly from Rovner Products, and are returned in good condition, we will honor a ten-day Money-Back Trial Period.
